1/30/23 UPDATE
As mentioned below, I busted open the case to sell/trade by the box, and within a couple hours, they were all gone! Here’s how …
Josh Smith on Facebook bought a box, and had me break it live on facebook during the day, and mentioned there were 22 people watching. That was fun – I hadn’t done anything like that before, and may want to do some breaks in the future! Here’s a link to the break if anyone is interested in watching:

If you have read my book, you may recall that I used to sell packs of cards to kids for their lunch money in 7th grade. One of the kids ran into me at a card show perhaps a couple decades later. Jonathan Chang ended up coming to our church, and ultimately ended up being Atticus’s youth leader. He bought one too!
Then, Andre Dawson supercollector Dustin decided to go Hawk hunting, and bought up the rest of the boxes! (Good luck, Dustin!!!)
So now, I am armed with the flexibility of cash to buy something to flip, and get back on the trading train.

Operation T206 Wagner is alive and well!
I put the case up for trade, but didn’t find anything too terribly interesting. Combined with all kinds of work issues, this has been sitting, doing nothing.
So, I busted the case! I’ve decided I’m going to take this to the next level, and offer them for sale as well as trade.
The money made from these will go directly to the flip quest, by way of buying a card/cards/collection. This is where it gets super exciting for me 
I’m open to trading as well, of course! Make me a trade offer on 1 box or all 12. Preferably cards, but I’m open to anything.
For selling, the last handful have sold at $109-$128ish each. I’ll sell each at $125 shipped if anyone is interested!
I also have the Soto as well, and would probably value it in the $400-500 range – let’s make a deal!

2021 Topps Tier One Juan Soto Silver Ink on card Auto #/10 SGC 10/10! – AVAILABLE
I can still hear Joe Buck saying “Can you only believe Soto is only 21 years old?!” from the World Series a few years back, LOL! Some friends and I (shout out to Chang and Aaron!) at church were laughing about that this past Sunday.
So anyway, Chris Dietrich of Capital City Sports Cards (visit them here!) sent me this gorgeous Soto in exchange for the two Mantles, and I’ve gotta say – it is looking super fly in an SGC 10/10 Tuxedo!
But that’s not the only thing he sent. Let’s zoom the camera out to see what the Soto is sitting on, shall we?
2021 Topps Chrome Platinum Anniversary Sealed 12 box hobby case – Available
So, I have a real dilemma here, guys! I would love to hear what you think. Here are my options:
- Trade the case as-is (they sell for around $1,000)
- Bust the case and trade the sealed boxes (they seem to sell in the $110-125 range each)
- Rip the entire case LIVE and then trade the contents
- Trade away either team or randomized spots and rip live – based on breaks that have sold on eBay, it looks like the total value of doing this would be in the $2,500 range.
It would probably be easiest to trade the case as-is, but most financially beneficial (and safe) to trade by breaks – just a lot of work…but fun work! Part of me wants to rip it, though – high risk / high reward. I could walk away with a LOT of money worth of cards OR walk away with $300 worth of cards + the Soto.
What are your thoughts? Let me know, and feel free to offer up a trade!

Hey guys! I know you all are curious to see where I am at. The Mantles are traded, but won’t have time to update what I got until tonight or tomorrow. Really pumped!
In the meantime, Chris Cody, the fella who started us off in the first trade, gifted me these cards to add into the flip quest! Here is a note he sent along as well.
